Domain System

The Domain Name System (DNS) is what allows us to use the Internet by entering recognizable domain names instead of numbers. It is now in place since the 1980s and has proved to be a reliable distributed database for use on the Internet.

When the Internet grew from a small set of interconnected hosts to a world wide web, DNS was invented to supersede the statical hosts files in order to keep the namespace maintainable and not being forced to update a local file where this translation was done before. We believe that this distributed database and its features are widely underestimated and, therefore, use it as the core of our software products.
